Upside Down Barbican

Escher & The Barbican

The Barbican has an incredibly intricate and sophisticated design on its ceilings that create a world that exists in a different axis, such as Escher’s famous ‘Relativity’ lithograph.

An upside down experience was proposed where visitors would be given a mirror to place under their chin. This would encourage them to explore the overlooked architectural features and play with their senses.

The Barbican Pattern

A custom pattern based on its most recognisable fixtures was created and applied to communication materials and merchandise.
